This is the first document I have ever written for an academic journal. I was an active theatre practitioner and teacher in Ateneo de Manila University at the time. I was approached by Cyan Abad-Santos, one of the editors of Perspectives of the Arts and Humanities Asia, to write a review of Maxie the Musicale, a musical adaptation of a famous Filipino film called Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros (The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros). In this review, I not only pay attention to the content of the musical, but also its physical manifestations, such as the set, the music, and the choreography. Attention to these kinds of detail will also apply to my future research.
